Fix a Hymer Table

Towards the end of the week the Hymer table runner/handle lost its thread. I tried to fix it but didn’t have the right bolts, so now on the look out for a rubber door wedge to slide in the runners and stop it sliding around. Somehow, I don’t think I will one in Sierra Nevada!

However, a few days later I did find two foam balls which did the trick nicely. Slide them between runner and the table and hey presto, it stops the table from sliding around but just enough friction to be able to move it. Works better and it is a lot easier to use than the original mechanism.

A few weeks later….Lastly the table top knob that allows it to move back & forth broke a while back. The thread had stripped so it needs a new one. I had to do something with it that allowed it to move it but not have to remove each time for it to work, Answer was two rubber balls placed in the space between the table top and the steel moving frame. Sadly they kept coming out every few days so I used a bit of spare aluminium angle and stuck it to the frame to keep the balls in. It works a treat, The table top now slides very smoothly but with enough friction to stop it moving too easily.
