Our first post comes from Linda, one of our longest standing followers. Since retirement, Linda and Gordon travel in their motorhome several times a year covering both UK and Europe. In September, they set off for a wander around France and Spain and after a few sunny weeks in Benidorm they are now heading home for Christmas. Two beautiful daughters, grandchildren and Bandit, the black lab eagerly awaiting their return.
1. Tell us a little about yourself.
My name is Linda Taylor. Originally from Stockton on Tees but as my husband was in the RAF I’ve lived all over the place since getting married in 1974. Our home is now in York.
2. What sort of motorhome traveller are you?
We are mainly part time motorhomers. Some short stay some long stay.
3. When did you first start motorhoming and what inspired you to start?
Started motorhoming in 2010 in our first motorhome. We got fed up of pitching tents so on retirement decided a motorhome was for us.
4. Tell us about your current motorhome.
Our motorhome is a Bessacarr 769. Her name is Bessie for obvious reasons. We chose it after 2 years of motorhome hunting and kept coming back to the same one. We like the island bed and the room to lounge at the front.
5. Where is the best place you’ve visited in motorhome and why?
I can’t think of a single best. We like different places for different reasons. Tournon Sur Soane in France is one that we keep going back to for the pitches beside the river and the proximity to the nice town. Also love to travel the Mosel in Germany. Again for the pitches beside the river. Water seems to draw us.
6. Where is the worst place you’ve visited and why?
One of the worst places was Carnon Plage, France. There was a lot of theft down there, including our bikes. In general we dislike big cities.
7. What 3 places are on your bucket / wish list?
I think Croatia is one of the main places on our bucket list. Would also like to do Norway and Finland at some point.
8. What things (apart from the obvious) do you always travel with?
Essential is my I pad. I like to keep in touch with the real world. Our bikes, a fan heater, real ale for the man of the motorhome, umbrellas, a couple of warm blankets, BBQ, a few DVDs, my slow cooker and wok.
9. If you could share one handy motorhome hint or tip, what would it be?
Always follow a map, don’t just rely on sat nav.
10. Any finally, whats your funniest motorhome moment?
Funniest moment was when we were led by the sat nav down a one way street. Gordon trying to do a hundred point turn beside a bull field with a electric fence and me backing into said fence while trying to direct home. Hence answer to 9 above 😂
Thank you Linda for taking the time to share your thoughts. Safe trip home in Bessie
Merry Christmas and a good new year. To you both

I keep asking my husband to take me to Croatia but he says it is too far. Think I might ditch my husband.
Hahaha, I am sure your hubby will take you if he knows the consequences!
You have a Bessicarr just like us!
A nice motorhome and nice layout
Great choice Garry 😉
Great idea to meet other motorhomers. Hello Linda and Gordon! Love the electric fence story. 😉
Cheers Mags…drop me an email at ourbumble@icloud.com if you fancy a go. You can list and link to your blog as well.
We quickly learned from that experience. NEVER rely on postcodes in France.
Hi Linda and Gordon, we are currently camping in tents and have often wondered about buying a motorhome. Can I ask do you prefer tent or motorhome?
Most definitely motorhome ☺️
